Cham game 3 - Milano 2013 Open

Third game my opponent was a Late Imperial Roman army. I knew that my opponent had some IWbO. I had an healthy respect for the RArtF, but being able to deal with them, my elephants could bring havoc in the right conditions.

I attacked again and the battlefield was mostly a plain. I echeloned my army using a plan smilar to the one adopted against the Seleucid, aiming to attack the wood on the right. Again the allies were reliable.

The CiC corps had often good pips, and this helped my advance. The central corps stayed still most of the time with low pips. This lack of coordination delayed my action.

The Roman was very cautious, and had no attack plan. He just moved back his elements avoiding any combat.

The ElX were quite effective and forced the Ax to stand under fire, or pull back to avoid being shot at. This on the long run opened a gap between the enemy center and the right flank.

Cham central corps was too slow to arrive in the combat area, so, even having some good opportunities chewing the exposed flank of the Wb formation, it was too little and too late.

When time was called, Cham was few elements away from disheartening the roman auxilia corps, but that could be achieved just winning every combat and needed a lot of luck. 13-12 for the Cham in a frustrating game.

Irregular pips this time doomed me, the echeloned manouver was very pip intensive, but there were few options with such a battlefield. I was not able to engage in close combat long enough my opponent, that played just for the draw.
